Forty-four years ago, I was adopted. My Birthmother made a very hard but selfless decision to allow someone that could not have a baby to love and nurture me. My Birthmother and father were very young when she got pregnant with me. My Father had moved with his family to New Jersey and my Birthmother lived in Dallas. At that time it was very shameful to become pregnant without being married. My Father was only seventeen and did not have the money to come marry her at that time nor did his family. He joined the Marines but by the time he got out of boot camp, I had already been adopted.

I had a wonderful childhood with my parents that adopted me. As I got older I became very curios who my biological parents were but I chose not to share that with my adopted parents for fear it would hurt them. Then I got married and had my first child. I then thought how important it would be to know my medical history, but I still never said anything. I can remember going to the mall or out in the town where I was born and wondering if my Birthmother lived there. The years passed and I had other children. I finally decided that I was going to start looking because I sure was not getting any younger. Unfortunately, I did not have very much luck. I was almost at the point that I thought maybe it just was not meant to be when my wife received a phone call from Patricia.

Patricia was able to locate where my Birthmother was in about fifteen minutes. She told my wife that she would try to contact her the next day. We were very nervous that next day wondering if she would even want to talk to me. My wife received a phone call around three o'clock in the afternoon saying that when she called. My Birthmother was not home but a man answered the phone and as she began talking to him, she realized that not only did she find my Birthmother but my Father. They ended up getting married that same year I was born. He came and picked her up in Dallas and went to his first duty station in California where they got married. They later had three other children, a daughter and two sons. I can truly say from the bottom of my heart that I have absolutely no anger towards them because they are the most wonderful people.

I owe Patricia a world of Thanks for reuniting us. I have always been Thankful for the life that I have had but now my life is completely fulfilled. Thanks Again Patricia!!!

Keith
